Supreme Court Judge made chief

Ahwerease (E/R), Oct.24, GNA – Professor Justice Samuel Darte-Bah, a Supreme Court Judge, was on Friday enstooled as the “Adesuahene” of Ahwerease, and the Nifa Division of the Akuapem Anafo Traditional Area in the Akuapem South District of the Eastern Region.

This was in recognition of his contribution to the development of the area by the chiefs and people.

Nana Opoku Ampong II, chief of Ahwerease, conferred the honour on Prof Justice Darte-Bah, a Citizen of the town, at a durbar of chiefs and people to climax a week-long celebration of the annual Odwira festival and the launch of the Ahwereaseman Education Fund.

The chief commended Prof. Darte-Bah for being a role model and his contribution to the development of education in the area. Nana Ampong said the Supreme Court Judge ensured that all children of school going age in the area had access to education and called on the youth to emulate him.

Nana Otobuor Gyan Kwasi, the Aburihene, praised the chief and people for organizing the durbar, after a long break and honouring Prof. Darte-Bah for his hard work.

Nana Gyan Kwasi said the people would welcome any imitative for the settlement of chieftaincy disputes to move the traditional area forward.

Mr Andrew Nyarko-Adu, Chief Executive of the District, who launched the Fund, noted that education formed the foundation for development and said the Assembly would support the scheme.

He called on the people to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme that had just taken off in the district to enhance health care delivery.
