“Support This Government” – Shatta Wale’s Message to the Youth at President’s Cup

Shatta Wale has called on Ghanaian youth to support President John Dramani Mahama, stating that the government is poised to deliver economic benefits directly to young people.

Addressing thousands of fans at the 2025 GHALCA President’s Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, July 6, the award-winning dancehall star paused his performance to urge young Ghanaians to back the current administration.

“From now till the next election, support this government. If you are a youth and you want to see money in your pocket, then support this government because it has come to put money in your pocket,” he declared to cheers from the crowd.

Later that evening, Shatta Wale took to Facebook to reinforce his message, expressing gratitude to the President for recognizing his contributions and those of the Shatta Movement. In a tone that blended appreciation with admiration, he applauded Mahama’s leadership.

“The man who rewards your hard work with a smile and can also terminate your contract if you don’t deliver. Good evening Mr. President. We’re grateful for your commitment to empowering the youth and making us part of your vision,” he wrote.

He also thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports for including his brand in the national celebration: “Thanks to the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, for this great honor and to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for making the Shatta Movement Empire/Gaza being part of this historic celebration.”

The event was not only a musical highlight but also a pulsating football encounter. In front of President Mahama, Kumasi Asante Kotoko delivered a spirited comeback to beat archrivals Accra Hearts of Oak 2-1, adding to the electrifying atmosphere of the night.
