Mr Emmanuel Mintah, the Director of AMPA Resources, a non-governmental organization, has appealed to corporate institutions to support the Government as it seeks to expand its health delivery.
He said the Government alone could not take all the social responsibilities, therefore, corporate institutions and philanthropic organisations could provide useful assistance in that regard.
Mr Mintah said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency during the celebration of the World Tuberculosis Day at Nsawam’s Ayigbe Town.
The volunteers for the event were from Pampaso, Teacher Mante, Wangara, Oboadaka, Alafia, Ayigbe Town, Adamu, Dua Ye Den, Amanfrom and Nsawam Bungalow in the Eastern Region.
Mr Mintah said the AMPA Resources Organization’s TB Volunteer Group in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service had undertaken a TB sensitisation programme in the Municipality.
Alhaji Abudul Dramani, the Nsawam-Adoagyiri TB Coordinator of the Ghana Health Service, said as a result of the sensitisation program, 30 women and 15 men at Ayigbe Town who were detected of having TB infections were directed to seek attention at the Nsawam Government Health Centre.
He said alcoholism, smoking and other unguarded social activities could make one vulnerable to TB infection and a host of other diseases, and urged the public to stay vigilant as they went about their activities.
Alhaji Dramani commended the AMPA Resources TB Volunteer Group and assured them of Ghana Health Service’s support in their activities.
