Sunyani Urban Three projects nearing completion

Sunyani (Brong Ahafo), 9 Feb. ’99 –

Work on projects under the eight billion-cedi World Bank funded Urban Three Programme in the Sunyani township started in 1997 is nearing completion. The projects include the upgrading of 5.9 kilometre of road network in the town and the construction of final waste disposal sites, markets and a lorry park among other facilities.

The Sunyani District Chief Executive, Mr Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, who inspected progress of work at the various sites yesterday, commended the contractors for a ”good job done”. He hoped that the completion of the projects would improve upon vehicular traffic and sanitation in the town and called on the people to exercise patience to enable the assembly to strictly follow its development plans to meet the needs of the various communities.

Mr Nyamekye-Marfo was told by an official of Adom Construction Company, one of the contractors, that the road component aspects of the Programme would be completed by the end of March.
