Sunyani SDA JSS to continue using premises

Sunyani, Sept 30, GNA – A meeting to resolve the impasse between officials of the Sunyani Branch of the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church and the Municipal Director of Education, the Reverend Emmanuel Kusi, over plans by the latter to eject teachers and students of the SDA Junior Secondary School (JSS) ended on Thursday.

Briefing the press on the outcome of the meeting, Mr Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister who presided, said all parties agreed that students of the school would stay at the premises until the Municipal Assembly decides otherwise. The meeting was necessitated by a threat by the Municipal Director of Education to seek the assistance of the Police to eject them from the premises.

Mr Baffour-Awuah said the meeting also informed authorities of the SDA Church to provide the required infrastructure as stipulated in the Ghana Education Service (GES) Policy Guidelines at the Old JSS site to enable the school to operate a Senior Secondary School. 30 Sept 05
