Sunyani residents express worry about dusty roads

Residents in the Sunyani Municipality, have lauded efforts by the city authorities to re-shape deplorable accessed roads within the Municipality.

They, however, expressed concern about the dusty nature of the roads, and appealed to the Municipal Assembly to tar them.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in a random interview on Tuesday, the residents said it would be necessary for the Assembly to water the roads to control the dust if it did not have immediate funds to tar them.

They also recognized and appreciated the on-going street naming exercise in the Municipality, which according to them, would facilitate easy identification.

When contacted, Mr Kwasi Oppong-Ababio, Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), stressed the Assembly’s commitment to facilitate the cause of development in the Municipality.

He appealed to residents to exercise restraint, as the Assembly intensified its revenue mobilization drive, to improve on the internally-generated funds for development purposes.

Mr Oppong-Ababio said the Assembly would embark on massive road construction project this year, and would ensure that most of the access roads it worked on in 2014 would be tarred.

The Sunyani MCE was impressed about works on the construction of the main ring road in the Municipality, and advised communities along the road, to co-operate with the contractor, to prevent shoddy work.
