Sunyani Municipal Assembly receives motor bikes

Members of Sunyani Municipal Assembly were on Wednesday presented with 50 motor bikes estimated at about GH¢85,000, including the cost of registration.

Presenting the bikes to the members in Sunyani Mr. Kwasi Oppong Ababio, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, reiterated the need to equip the Assembly Members so they could freely move in their electoral areas to enhance effective service performance in local governance.

He cautioned them to be very circumspect in the use and management of the bikes by avoiding alcoholism when riding.

Mr Ababio advised the Assembly Members against using the bikes for the illegal ‘okada’ operations.

The assembly members expressed their gratitude to the government for honouring its promise to supply them with the motor bikes free of charge.

“We are most grateful to the government and the authorities of the Municipal Assembly”, they said, and promised to use the motor bikes for the benefit of their electoral areas.**
