Sunurosiso (Ash), Dec 24, GNA – The perennial water crisis faced by the people of Sunurosiso, a farming community near Tepa in the Ahafo-Ano North District with a population of about 250, is now over with the inauguration of a-6000.00 US dollars borehole.
The Anglican Church in Florida, United States provided the funding in response to an appeal by the Revered Canon Bill Lester, a priest at the Saint Luke’s Anglican Church in Fort Myers.
On hand to perform the ceremony was the Anglican Diocesan Bishop of Kumasi, the Right Reverend Dr Daniel Yinkah Sarfo.
He said the church was proud to be associated with efforts at helping to provide the people with some of their basic necessities. It should be a source of joy to the community that the situation where the people were forced to rely on contaminated water, with the associated health risks, now belonged to history. He singled out the significant role played by Rev Canon Reginald Nuamah, Rector, Saint Myers Episcopal Church, US, and Rev Father James Nuamah, Chaplain for non-Anglican Schools in Kumasi, in the construction of the project. Rt. Rev Dr Yinkah Sarfo advised them to take good care of the facility and ensure that it was properly maintained.
Additionally, they should keep a clean environment to avoid diseases, he said. Mr Awusubo Ali, spokesman for the community, said they were grateful t= o the church for the assistance and pledged to handle it with care.
