Suit against Kufuor, Nana Addo useless – Reseacher

A Researcher on migration has described as wrong move, a suit filed against former President Kufuor and former Foreign Affairs Minister Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over the killing of some Ghanaians in The Gambia.

Jeffrey Ashley in an interview with XYZ News said the suit will achieve nothing meaningful.

Human Rights Activist Anthony Rau who filed the suit at the International Court of Justice accuses the two politicians of complicity in the murder of the Ghanaians in 2005.

According to him, Mr. Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo could have done a lot more to unravel the circumstances under which about 33 Ghanaians were allegedly executed by Yahyah Jammeh of The Gambia.

But Jeffrey Ashley who is the Executive Director of NGO ‘Africa Migration’ said Anthony Rau is barking up the wrong tree.

“When this issue happened, Kufuor took a step, Nana Akufo Addo also said what he had to say…we should rather prevent those that are going [Libya] now from going.

“All those that were killed had no valuable documents and I prefer the AU and ECOWAS to step in rather than suing Kufuor”.
