Prices of some food items are expected to go down drastically as a result of the new measures• Reduction in excise duty and debt recover levies on gas oil, kerosene, marine gas oil;

• Removal of import duties on rice, wheat, yellow corn and vegetable oil;

• Increased support for the cost of production of electricity;

• Subsidy on the cost of fertiliser and consultation with development partners to import and stockpile additional supplies of rice and wheat;

• Ministry of Food and Agriculture to step up the supply of tractors at subsidised rates to farmers;

• Removal of excise duty on premix fuel.
