Students from Sekondi-Takoradi attend cultural exchange programme

Takoradi, August 7, GNA – Ten students selected from five senior secondary schools in the twin-city of Sekondi-Takoradi, left the country for Plymouth in the United Kingdom on a two-week cultural exchange programme.

It is under the Sekondi-Takoradi – Plymouth sister-city exchange programme that started in 2005.

The students, accompanied by a three-member team led by Mr Joshua Baidoo, Headmaster of Sekondi College, would joined their counterparts in Plymouth to perform “The Marriage of Anansewa” written by Efua Southerland.

Mr Ato Bruce, Coordinator of the programme at the Metropolitan Education Directorate told the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi before departure that, the performance of the first group of students in 2005 was so successful that the audience in Plymouth were eager to witness another treat from the Ghanaian students.

He said after rehearsals there was the indication that this years’ programme would be even more successful to further strengthen the sister-city relationship between Sekondi-Takoradi and Plymouth. The trip is being sponsored by a number of public and private institutions in the United Kingdom and the Shama Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly.
