Students embrace Vodafone’s Instant School Programme

Instant School, an initiative by Vodafone Ghana Foundation to transform the concept of teaching and learning in Ghana has been activated in some selected schools in the Ashanti Region.

The activation was done to coincide with the 60th Otumfuo Anniversary of the Golf Tournament.

Instant Schools is an online platform where students and pupils can access a wide range of educational materials with just a click of the button. Some students at the D & D Academy in Kumasi, one of the first basic schools in the Region to have the activation of the programme, were very delighted since the platform would offer them the chance to adequately prepare for their lessons ahead of school schedules.

The Director, External Affairs and Legal, Mr. Gayheart Mensah, said Ghanaians cannot be left behind in the increasing technological advancement across the world especially given its huge impact on every aspect of human existence.

He said that Vodafone Ghana with this knowledge in mind is committed to contributing to ignite Ghana’s digital revolution; doing everything possible to ensure that no Ghanaian is left behind digitally.

The programme, he explained, offers school going children from the primary level to the tertiary level an opportunity to access learning and teaching materials free of charge on the Vodafone website, especially for Vodafone users. He noted that other network users could access the resource provided but may come with charges from their network providers.

Mrs. Monica Addo, Headteacher of D&D Academy, said the programme will further support the learning procedure looking at the volume of well-thought-out exercises and information provided for the consumption of students.

The Vodafone Instant School aims to provide millions of young people in Africa with free access to online learning materials developed in conjunction with Learning Equality – a leading not-for-profit provider of open-source educational technology solutions.
