Students donate to deprived school

Students of the Saint Louis Senior High School (SHS) have presented assorted educational materials to the Timeabu M/A primary school in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality.

The donation, which formed part of activities marking the Students Representative Council (SRC) week, include reading and exercise books, pens, pencils and erasers.

Miss Josephine Korang Osei-Tutu, the Senior Prefect, handing over the gifts, at a ceremony held at Timeabu, appealed to the government to do more to improve conditions in deprived schools.

She said it was important to make sure that no Ghanaian child became disadvantaged because of their geographical location.

Deliberate efforts should, therefore, be made to entice more professionally trained teachers to accept postings to the rural and difficult-to-reach communities, she added.

Mr. Edward Adams, the Municipal Director of Education, commended the students for the gesture and said it was a good example that others must learn from.

Nana Kwadwo Adu, Chief of the community, who received the items on behalf of the school, gave the assurance that everything would be done to ensure that the books were fairly distributed to the pupils.
