Tema, Dec. 14, GNA – Professor Atukwei Okai, Secretary General of the Pan-African Writers Association, has called on students to take their lessons seriously in order to realise their academic ambitions to facilitate national development.
He said as future leaders they must strive to develop their talents and skills by reading about the achievements of great men and women in history to inspire them to contribute their quota to the progress of Ghana.
Prof. Okai was speaking at the 10th anniversary celebration of the First Star Academy School, a private school in Tema.
“You must understand that Ghana is waiting for you and looking up to you to grow to offer her and Africa the benefits of dreaming spirits, a thinking mind and a helping hand.”
Prof. Okai called on parents to invest in the education of their children to ensure qualitative academic environment.
The Proprietress of the school, Mrs Grace Awuah, said 52 out of the 98 students presented for the 2004 Basic Education Certificate Examination had distinction in their best six subjects. She said the school has a computer laboratory to train the students to become computer literates.
