Accra, July 19, GNA – A 23-year old student who presented a forged document for the issuance of a British Visa has been put before the Greater Accra Regional Tribunal.
Priscilla Amofa-Boakye has pleaded not guilty to a charge of possessing a forged document.
The tribunal presided over by Mr Justice Frank Manu, has granted her a 20-million-cedi bail with a surety to be justified. Amofa-Boakye would make her next appearance in court on Thursday, July 28.
The facts of the case are that in April this year, the accused person submitted to the Consular Section of the British High Commission certain documents including a forged British Passport Copy bearing the name of one Stefan Acheampong.
The documents were to support her application for a United Kingdom Entry Visa.
When the High Commission crosschecked, it found that the passport copy was forged, since it did not have “valid mandatory guards”. As a result, Amofa-Boakye was handed over to the Visa Fraud Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Police where she mentioned Acheampong as the one, who posted the document to her.
