Student shot dead by hunter

A second-year student of the Amoaful Technical Institute in the Asante-Bekwai Municipality had been shot dead by a hunter, who mistook him for a game.

The deceased, Bismark Frimpong, had gone to collect seeds of the “Atoto” plant, used as a pain-killer, when the tragedy struck.

The incident happened at about 0730 hours, last Friday.

Police Chief Superintendent Akomea Apraku, Bekwai Divisional Commander, confirmed the incident to Ghana News Agency and said Danso handed himself in to the police after noticing the mess.

He is now being held by the police at Abodom as they investigate the matter.

The body of the deceased had since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
