Student sentenced 12 months for stealing

Koforidua, Sept. 10, — A 19-year-old final year student of the New Juaben College of Commerce, Patrick Kwasi Agyeman, has been sentenced to 12 months in prison by the Koforidua circuit tribunal for stealing.

In a separate case of unlawful entry and stealing , the tribunal, presided over by Mr Senyo Dzamefe, fined him 300,000 cedis or in default another year in prison.

Agyeman pleaded guilty to both cases. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Evelyn Addo told the court that on September four, this year, Agyeman broke into a drinking bar at Srodai, a suburb of Koforidua, and took away a television set valued at 150,000 cedis and one stereo speaker, estimated at 100,000 cedis, belonging to Patrick Boakye, owner of the bar.

Chief inspector Addo said Agyeman took the items to Asamankese for sale, but while in the process of disposing of them, he was confronted by a policeman, and he admitted stealing them.
