Stray bullet hits Oforikrom NYEP office

Workers at the Oforikrom office of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) in Kumasi escaped unhurt when their office was hit by a stray bullet on Friday.

The bullet, fired by an unknown suspect at about 2200 hours, penetrated the roof of the office and landed on the floor, creating pandemonium as the workers ran for their lives.

Mr Maclean Kusodzi, Secretary of the Office, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA), that the incident had since created fear amongst the workers as they could still not comprehend the motive for the shooting.

“We have for now closed the office to allow the police to conduct thorough investigations into the incident”, he said.

When contacted, the Oforikrom Police Station confirmed the incident and said it had commenced investigations into it.
