Strange coffin causes stir in Brong Ahafo

A strange miniature coffin has been found in a community cemetery at Kojokessekrom, near Drobo in the Jaman North District of the Brong Ahafo Region in early hours of Wednesday.

The small coffin was found on the tomb of a toddler, who was buried some three months ago.

Parents of the child disclosed that they did not place any coffin on the tomb of the deceased, adding that anybody was asked to do that on their behalf.

According to them, infants below eight months are not buried in coffins per the traditions.

They said it was strange for them to discover a coffin on the tomb of the deceased after three months.

The chief of the town, Nana Bafour Baah and some community members, who were also shocked, thronged the cemetery to assess the situation.

Initially, they thought that the body of the dead child had been exhumed and the coffin placed there for ritual purposes but upon careful examination, they realized that the grave was intact.

Nothing was found in the small coffin when it was opened by the people.

Nana Bafour Baah, who was surprised at the turn of events, said the chiefs would pour libation and perform rituals to find out why the strange coffin was placed on the tomb of the child.

Members of the community are yet to come to terms with the strange happening, Daily Guide has gathered.
