Stranded Ghana Airways Passengers Set to Leave

Linthicum, MD (WJZ) Hundreds of stranded travelers who have been stuck here in Baltimore may finally leave for Ghana later today.

Officials from both the U.S. and Ghana have arranged for two charter planes to carry the passengers who have been waiting to leave Baltimore and New York.

The travelers held tickets to fly on Ghana’s state-run airline when it was grounded by U.S. officials last Monday for alleged safety and licensing violations.

The first charter flight is scheduled to leave from BWI today.

The other will leave Thursday From JFK Airport in New York.

Returning flights will bring back passengers stranded in Ghana’s capital.

The airline put up more than 50 marooned passenger in the Ramada Inn in Laurel.

Many are frustrated by the long delay.

Several passengers also had their baggage ruined last week during heavy rain when their scheduled flight was grounded.
