Aflao, Nov.23, GNA-Two Ghanaian stowaways were last Wednesday rescued by fishermen six days after they were allegedly forced out of the hold of a Spanish Container ship.
Mr. Mohammmed Abdulai Majeni, 20, a mechanic from Efiakoma, Takoradi and Mohammed Amankwafo, 17, unemployed, born and resident in Abidjan were found adrift a raft by an Aflao based fishing crew during a fishing expedition.
Mr. Majeni, a Rastafarian also based in Abidjan told the GNA that the two of them paid a total of 2,300 US Dollars to an Ivorian man who took them to the Spanish Flag Vessel at about 1630 on November 10, this year to stowaway.
He said about two hours after the vessel set to sail, they were found by two crew men who gave them food portions and made them sit on the a raft made of four drums tied together.
He said they were fork-lifted into the sea with the food and water which lasted three days,just about the time they were rescued. Mr. Godwin Tetteh, Leader of the Rescue Team, said they found the two afloat and rescued them after satisfying themselves that they were harmless. The two had since been assisted by the Aflao Police to return to their base.
