Storm renders 120 people homeless at Gbi-Kpeme

Hohoe Feb. 5, GNA – A total of 120 people were rendered homeless at Gbi-Kpeme in Hohoe following a rain and windstorm in the area last Monday afternoon. The storm destroyed 12 houses including a computer laboratory and library of the Kpeme Local Authority (LA) Junior High School (JHS) under construction. The roofs of 41 houses were also ripped off.

Briefing the GNA, Mr Edmund Batse Assembly Member for the area said affected people are staying with relations while “tenants are hanging on”. He appealed to NADMO, NGOs, individuals and institutions to come to the aid of the affected people. Mr Batse urged the people to plant trees to serve as wind breaks in times like this.
