Accra, July 13, GNA – Ibrahim Maninkah Nansiaba, a storekeeper, who allegedly defiled a 13-year-old school girl, on Wednesday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.
Nansiaba, who pleaded not guilty, was remanded into prison custody to re-appear on July 18.
Police Chief Inspector A.A. Ahor told the court presided over by Mrs Georgina Mensah-Datsa that the complainant, Asibi Yibil, a trader, is the auntie of the victim.
The prosecution said the complainant reported to the police that the victim had been defiled by the accused, who stayed in the same house with them at Kanda, a suburb of Accra. Chief Insp. Ahor told the court that Yibil said on April 2, this year she found a tissue soaked with blood dropping from the victim’s private part.
The prosecution said the complainant became suspicious and confronted the victim.
Chief Insp. Ahor said the victim said that the previous day when her aunt attended a funeral, the accused defiled her in his room. The prosecution told the court that the victim said the accused gave her two Ghana cedis and warned her not to tell anyone about the ordeal. Chief Insp. Ahor said a report was made to the police and a medical report indicated that the victim had been defiled. The prosecution said the accused during interrogation admitted the off= ence. 13 July 11
