Stop your ‘chauvinistic’ comments – Amakye tells Kofi Amoabeng

A Political Science Lecturer Amakye Boateng has lashed out at the retired Chairman of UT Bank Kofi Amoabeng for compelling women in his outfit to write exams to determine they worked for their certificates and not through sexual favours.

According to him, Mr. Amoabeng is breaking the labour laws, saying it’s discriminatory to subject his women staff to such an ordeal.

Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah, he cautioned that the UT boss will have human rights activists to contend with if he continues on that tangent.

Kofi Amoabeng in an interview with Accra FM over the weekend advised, Human Resource Managers of institutions to scrutinise certificates of beautiful girls with first class honours who apply for job.

The UT Boss argued that most of the girls acquire their certificates through sexual favours from men, saying girls must be asked to write examination to prove that they really deserved their awards.

The Political Science Lecturer challenged Mr. Amoabeng to provide details of the various universities which he doubts their credibility.

He wondered if the over twenty lecturers who taught a student within his/her university education would be able to bribe all the lecturers.

He stated that anyone who believes that female students can bribe over twenty lecturers needs psychiatric attention.

‘I don’t know his reason for compelling only beautiful women to write examination to determine if they really deserve their certificates from the various universities. It’s discriminatory to subject women to this ordeal, if he continues on this tangent; he would have human rights activists to contend with.

One has to go through four years before completion of school, in a year, one student is taught by more than five lecturers, and they change as one move on in the academic calendar, by the time a student completes school, he/she would have been taught by 20 lecturers. Can all these lecturers be bribed? Amoabeng should come out and tell us,’ he charged.

According to him, men especially politicians who speak against women should bow their heads in shame.

He advised men to accord women the respect ‘Out of the abundance of heart, the mouth speaks,we should be mindful of our words as a people’.

Some female graduates at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) swept home most of the awards over the weekend during the school’s graduation.
