The majority leader in Parliament has urged the minority to desist from inflaming passions over the Electoral Commission’s (EC) intention to create 45 new constituencies.
Mr. Cletus Avoka, who is also a Member of Parliament for Zebila Constituency, said utterances mainly from the side of the minority and some NPP faithful were in bad taste, adding that such assertions could palpably undermine the work of the EC.
The majority leader made the caution when he registered his displeasure on the way and manner the minority and NPP were going about issues on the creation of new constituencies by the EC.
He said the minority should exempt the majority in commenting on the anomalies contained in the previous Constitutional Instrument (CI) because the EC had the sole mandate of demarcating and creating constituencies.
Mr. Avoka explained that, the additional new constituencies would enhance participatory democracy and good governance as parliamentarians would have a sizable constituencies to manage.
He, therefore, assured Ghanaians that the majority and minority would cooperate to help the EC to organize a successful election.
