Stop the “lazy” morning shows on radio – Mahama

President Mahama has described as lazy, the kind of morning shows that are run on radio platforms in the country.

The President said the sensational nature of radio in the country makes it difficult for pertinent issues affecting the ordinary Ghanaian to be highlighted.

He therefore urged editors to cut down on the amount of politics discussed on the airwaves and rather focus on developmental issues.

President Mahama made the comments during a meeting with senior editors and executives of the Ghana Journalists Associations at the Flagstaff House in Accra on Friday.

“Radio is the most potent media vehicle and it shapes perceptions of people…even more than newspapers, radio must get it right in terms of shaping our people’s perception but often the style that is used is very lazy” President Mahama said.

Speaking to XYZ News after the meeting, the Vice President of the GJA, Affail Monney said the Association will work to reduce the mediocrity in Ghana’s media landscape.
