Stop sending pupils to your farm

Teachers have been cautioned against the habit of sending pupils to their farms or engaging them in other jobs during school hours.

The District Chief Executive of Bosomtwe Atwima Kwawoman Mr. Bright Addae Munukum who gave the warning said such practices is against the code of ethics of the teaching profession and also amounts to child labour.

He disclosed that the district’s education committee will from now apply the neccessary sanctions against any teacher who will be caught in such practises.

The D.C.E. was speaking at the inauguration of Nana Atta Fosu Education Fund at Piase in the Bosomtwi Atwima Kwawoma district of Ashanti.

The fund which was established by Mr.Joseph Atta Fosu,a native of the town based in the United State of America is to help raise the standard of education in the town (Piase)

He added that the assembly will soon commence work on the construction of a six unit classroom block for the Piase L / A school.

Mr. Munukum commended Mr. Atta Fosu for investing part of his hard earned income in the education of his people.

The man who established the fund Mr. Atta Fosu in his speech said he was touched by the plight of some pupils in the town who for an amout of only ?50,000.00 ( fifty thousand cedis ) had to stop schooling.

He called on his colleagues outside the country to contribute to the fund. Mr. Fosu admonished the managers of the fund to be fair and honest in it’s disbursment.

He donated , as seed money, ten million cedis (10,000,000.00) in the fund A five member committee, with the Kontihene of Piase Nana Agyapong as the chairman, was also inaugurated to administer the fund
