The Majority Leader in Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has called on constituents to stop harassing MPs with calls during critical working hours.
According to the Nadowli Kaleo MP, constituents must not call MPs between 10am and 2pm since lawmakers are mostly busy focusing on national issues before the House.
He, however, added that constituents can only call when there is an emergency that must be addressed.
“It’s a plea to the whole nation that they should not be calling their Members of Parliament except on emergency situations,” Bagbin told the House on Tuesday when the lawmakers reconvened after a month-long break for Christmas.
The Majority Leader also called for maximum attention from MPs, saying the House has a lot of work to do over the next two months.
“The fact is that we have a lot of work to do, but there are others that are time bound – some are international obligations, and [Monday], we met the Police, Ministers of State and the business committee will be shaping the business of the House according to some priorities that we agreed with the government,” he explained.
President Mahama will in the coming weeks address the House on the state of the nation.
