Stop “Fake” Osu Chief – Accra Regional House of Chiefs

Accra, Aug. 17, The Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, has called on Nii Nortey Owuo III, self styled Chief of Osu, to desist from performing any traditional rites for and on behalf of the people of Osu.

A press release from the Osu Traditional Council, wishes to inform the general public and the world at large that, Osu has no Manste. The press release went further to state that, an interim injunction has been placed on the self style chief, Lartey Ashong alias Nii Nortey Owuo III.

Meanwhile, the interim injunction from the Greater Accra Regional House of Chief clearly states that, nobody apart from the Osu Mankalo, as the acting Osu Manste, should enter the Osu Manste Palace, to perform any customary rites, pouring of libation, drumming, sprinkling ‘Oto’ and ‘Kpekple’ or performing any Homowo rites or rituals or custom or anything.

This means in the absence of a Manste, the Manklalo of Osu, Nii Ako Nortey IV, acts as substantive chief, as tradition demands, till the final determination of the case, says the Greater Accra Regional Chiefs.

However, information reaching the Osu Traditional Council indicates that, the Self-styled Chief, Nii Nortey Owuo, is currently serving on the board of the Land Commission in Accra.

Why is the Land Commission engaging “fake” chief to act on behalf of the people and elders of Osu, on its borad? Opinion leaders of Osu demand answers.
