Stop creating unhealthy rivalry among candidates

Mr. George Ayisi Boateng, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, has cautioned members of his party against pitching the candidates in the flag-bearership primary against one another.

He said, such behaviour could have serious repercussions not only on the party’s chances of winning the 2016 general election but also undermine relationships among party members and even divide families.

In a statement issued, in Kumasi at the weekend, in reaction to recent developments relating to the campaign for the October 18 primary, Mr. Ayisi Boateng called for a halt to unwarranted statements, especially in the media.

Mr. Ayisi Boateng, who is also a member of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Campaign team in the Ashanti Region, warned against the use of the name of Nana Addo in campaigns that could divide the NPP.

Party members, he advised, should always be guarded by their utterances, and act responsibly to uphold the unity and strength of the party to be able to recapture power in the 2016.

Messrs Akufo-Addo, Alan Kyerematen and Mr. Francis Addai-Nimo are contesting to lead the party in the 2016 presidential election.
