Statements made by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, regarding the missing 208 cars lack the necessary facts to make them credible, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, former Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central, has said.
There is currently a back-and-forth between the Akufo-Addo government and the erstwhile Mahama administration concerning the number of state vehicles left at the presidency after the president’s press secretary Mr Arhin revealed that 208 state cars were missing.
The former government subsequently released a statement on Thursday saying it left behind 641 cars and dared the new government to point out the alleged missing ones.
However, Mr Tetteh Chaie said: “Mr Eugene Arhin should know that he is communicating to the good people of this country. We have given him a duty to perform and in communication you have be concise with your statements, you have to be truthful with your statement, you have to be clear, there should be no ambiguity in your communication.
“This is not a party propaganda office. You are being paid as a public servant to serve the good people of this country.
“In coming out with statements, you have to be factual, you have to make sure that at the end of whatever you want to say, whatever the good people of this country need to assess the veracity or otherwise of your statement is clear, but for me, from his statements, I see a lot of loopholes. That is why I doubt some of the things that he has said,” Mr Tetteh Chaie said on TV3 New Day Saturday February 11.
