Steering Committee to conduct NUGS elections

Accra, Aug. 7, GNA – The National Executive Committee of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has constituted a Steering Committee to take charge of the affairs of the Union and to organise National Delegates’ Congress and election of new National Executives for the 2006 and 2007 academic year.

A statement signed by Mr Thomas Arthur, Chairman of the Steering Committee, said in Accra on Monday that the independent committee comprised of two representatives from all blocks within the NUGS and four National Officers, who were not involved in the wrangling within the NUGS.

The statement said the Committee was also to organise, manage and resolve the pending wrangling within the Union. It announced that the National Delegates’ Congress would be held on August 11 2006 the Kumasi Campus of the University of Education, Winneba.

The Committee urged parties involved in the impasse to demonstrate and good will to resolve the problem within the Union. The statement invited all stakeholders to the Conference, which would be held under the theme: “Building a United States Union in Ghana; The Role of Student Leaders in conflict Management Towards National Development.=94
