Steel Companies In Tema Appeal To President To Save Them From Collopsing

Accra, (Greater Accra) 6 Oct.,

Three steel companies in the country today called on President Jerry John Rawlings to take immediate steps to save them from collapsing. The companies – Ferro Fabrik Ltd, Tema Steel Company and Wahome Steel Ltd. – made the call through the Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare at a consultative meeting in Accra. In a resolution issued after the meeting, they called for a halt to the dumping of steel products in the country from abroad. This, they said, can be done by increasing the import duty on imported iron rods to 30% to promote fair competition between locally made goods and imports.
