Tema, Jan. 7, GNA – A steel bender who entered the house of a businessman at Sakumono Estate with a pistol and broke into one of the rooms has been remanded by the Tema Circuit Court ‘B’.
Eric Appiah pleaded not guilty to a charge of possessing firearm and five cartridges without authority, unlawful entry and causing damage to property. He is to be brought before the court on January 13. Police Chief Inspector Teye Matey told the court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that on December 4, last year, at 01:30 hours, security men guarding a house of another businessman at Sakumono Estates heard an unusual noise at the back of the building they were guarding. He said while they were going to the area of the noise, they saw Appiah jump over a fence wall and warned the security men that if they pursued him, “I will kill you”.
In spite of this warning, the security men chased and arrested him, holding a locally manufactured pistol, and a black polythene bag and escorted him to the Sakumono Police Station.
Chief Inspector Matey said in course of police investigations, they realised that the accused used an implement to cut a mosquito netting, broke the louver blades and entered the room.
