Stay off acts of violence – Sarikin Zongo

Alhaji Umar Farouk, the Zongo Chief of Ashanti, has appealed to the youth in Zongo communities to reject violence and ensure that, they conform to the rules of acceptable social behaviour.

He urged them to refuse to do the bidding of anyone seeking to disturb the peace of the society as the nation prepared towards the December 7 presidential and parliamentary polls.

He said as young people they needed to focus on education careers and channel their abundant energies into productive ventures.

Alhaji Farouk said this when inaugurating the Ibadur Rahman Educational Complex in Kumasi.

The 12-unit classroom block, with a library and office, was funded by United States (US)-based NGO, the Ibadur Rahman Association and it seeks to promote secular education among Muslims to bring down the high level illiteracy, ignorance and poverty in the Zongo areas.

Alhaji Farouk called on parents to place more value on education by ensuring that all children of school going age are in school.

Sheikh Abdul Mumin Haroun, the Regional Chief Imam, commended the NGO for the project and reminded the school’s management to take good care of the facility.**
