Statement Of Appreciation From Alfred Agbesi Woyome

I offer thanks to the Almighty God who is my shield and my strength. He has protected me all my life and continues to protect me.

I thank my wife, family and close associates, I thank my staff, supporters, grass roots supporters of the NDC party, some members of the Business Community and all those who have come to offer their unflinching support. I thank them for their words of encouragement. I thank all those who have prayed and continue to pray unceasingly for me.

I thank the Chiefs of the Volta Region, members of the Volta Caucus, Voltarians and supporters in all the regions for their show of solidarity. I thank the Police for the kind manner in which I was treated, and for the respect they accorded me, my family and my supporters whilst in their custody. I thank the Judiciary for allowing the rule of law to work. The criminal case against me and 3 others will be heard before the law courts and I pray that the rule of law is upheld at all times so the people of Ghana will finally know the truth.

It is not normal or usual to thank those who plot against you, but I use this opportunity to thank those whose actions and directives led to me being dramatically arrested for what some people have described as being “gargantuan crimes”, and the abuse of my human rights since Friday 3rd February, 2012. I spent those couple of weeks in custody reflecting on all that had happened, and I have come out even more energized to continue to serve my God and to even more actively offer my support and assistance in serving the best interests of my country.

God bless us all, and God bless Ghana.
