Statement From The Management of VRA

The Management of the Volta River Authority (VRA) has been following with growing concern the various pieces of information, which have appeared in the print and electronic media about the management style of VRA’s Chief Executive, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby. To date, Management has maintained a studied silence on the statements. However, we now consider it imperative to issue this statement.

Apart from the introduction of Decentralization and Devolution of Management authority under which Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby has transferred most of the powers of operational management to Deputy Chief Executives and Line Directors in the management of the Authority, no other new or fundamental changes have been introduced into the management practices of the Authority. What is being perceived as new changes is the insistence that the operations of the Authority must conform strictly to the formal rules and regulations that were already in existence before Dr. Wereko-Brobby became the Chief Executive.

The Management of VRA wholeheartedly supports the developments which are taking place within the Authority and believes that these are necessary to enable the VRA to position itself to respond adequately and effectively to the challenges of meeting Ghana’s power supply needs in an adequate and reliable manner.
