Christmas is always a season for us as Christians to reflect on the birth of our Lord and savior Jesus’ Christ.
The birth of Jesus which brought salvation to mankind and the entire world is the greatest and most profound act by God which demonstrates His everlasting love and kindness towards us, despite our sins and weaknesses.
Christmas offers us the opportunity as a people and nation to emulate Jesus Christ in words and deeds by imbibing the core lessons of love, tolerance, sacrifice, generosity and peaceful co-existence which Christ stands for.
As a nation, we must at all times, remember the whole essence of the birth of Jesus Christ on earth who, despite the fact that He, as the Son of God chose to be born in a manger. It is this classical case of humility and self-denial which hallmarked the entire life of Christ that we should celebrate and emulate.
We, therefore, urge Ghanaians especially those in leadership to be guided by this act of humility exhibited by our savior Jesus Christ and live a humble life that puts the interest of the nation and the people they serve at heart.
Our leaders must use this season to reflect and re-examine their actions and in-actions which have contributed to the challenges we are facing as a nation today.
It is our expectation that, our leaders and the entire citizenry will show selfless commitment to addressing the challenges facing the church and country, and make a resolve to fight corruption and the other social ills in our society as we prepare for 2016.
Leaders of this country must be prepared to make sacrifices beyond their immediate benefits and think of the salvation of generations beyond them, and demonstrate deeds that would safeguard the future of our country.
Although our country is confronted with myriads of challenges, the birth of Christ which brought hope and salvation to us should inspire us as a nation to look into the future with the hope that our country will certainly rise, and become the shining star of Africa.
As a Council, we urge Christians and Ghanaians in general not to give up, but hold fast to God in prayer and deeds, and pursue peace before, during and after the 2016 general elections.
The Council assures Ghanaians that it will continue to pray for the peace and prosperity of our beloved nation.
We wish every Ghanaian a blessed Christmas in Jesus’ name.
