State owned universities get Council Chairs

The Council for the various State owned Universities have finally been formed to steer the affairs and place legality on decisions taken by the various Universities in the country.

Several State owned Universities have had to draw back graduating students because they lacked the existence of Councils to sanction their activities and also approve of their graduation.

This week the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) gave government an ultimatum to form the various councils of the State owned Universities or face their wrath as an association.

University of Ghana: Prof. Yaw Twumasi

KNUST: Prof Emeritus Kwame Sarpong

University of Cape Coast: Mrs Nancy Thompson

University of Education: Prof Emmanuel Abakah

University of Health and Allied Sciences: Justice Jones Dotse

University of Development Studies: Mr Nutifafa Kuenyehia

University of Mines: Dr. Stephen Saforo Yirenkyi
