State Housing MD Going Nowhere -NDC Sese Group

City Fm Accused of Aiding Minister

The Sese Group of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has thrown its weight behind the Managing Director of the State Housing Company, Dr. Mark Nii Akwei Ankrah, (pictured), who has been asked to step aside.
The Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Alhaji Collins Dauda, asked the MD to step aside following allegations of maladministration and financial impropriety.
It was reported yesterday that Dr. Ankrah has been accused of receiving an amount of GH¢36,000 every month to pay for his phone bills.
But the Sese Group said he was going nowhere, intimating that the decision smacks of bad faith and an attempt to “impugn the integrity of a Ghanaian who has worked hard and made sacrifices to ensure that the State Housing Company is back on its feet again.”
“Dr. Ankrah is going nowhere. We will make sure he maintains his position come hell or high water, because he is one of the persons the NDC needs to succeed in government. We see the attempt to sack him as an act of sabotage on the government,” said Alhaji Alhassan Abubakar Galadima, Press Secretary of the Sese Group.
According to the group, various reports by the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) had cleared Dr. Ankrah of any wrongdoing following an earlier witch-hunting exercise to get rid of the man.
“It is an attempt by Hon. Dauda to terminate his contract. The minister wants to put someone in that position who can be easily manipulated by him,” Alhaji Galadima said.
“The State Housing Company declared profit only when Dr. Ankrah took over as managing director. He has plans for the youth and housing sector in the country and such an asset must be protected from the selfish interests of a few people.”
The Sese Group press secretary disclosed that the State Housing Company MD had among other things, proposed the Nima Regeneration Project to provide decent accommodation for the people of the sprawling slum in the capital city, accusing Hon. Dauda of witch-hunting.
In other developments information reaching this reporter indicates that some family members of Dr. Ankrah are not so happy with City Fm’s reportage of the imbroglio involving the former MD and the minister.
According to unconfirmed reports Hon. Dauda has agents at the 11 Tetteh Loop radio house who have been peddling false accusations against Dr. Ankrah just to ensure that he leaves the scene. Sleuthing however continues to unravel who these agents might be although previous attempts to get reactions from 11 Tetteh Loop failed.
