State-Church collaboration is vital – Association

Kumasi, Jan. 19, GNA – Mr George Omane, National Vice-Chairman of the Association of the Methodist Men’s Fellowships, has called for effective state-church collaboration for socio-economic development. He said such collaboration would ensure a better way of tackling the country’s development agenda in an atmosphere of peace. Mr Omane was speaking at the inauguration and induction service of the Dunwell Methodist Men’s Fellowship at Nyankyerenease in Kumasi on Sunday. He said the fellowship aims at mobilizing the men to assist the church realize its objective of spreading the word of God and its social obligation towards the society. Mr Omane said it is also to ensure the spiritual and physical development of the members besides becoming law-abiding citizens and role models in society. The new fellowship is the 72nd to be inaugurated in the diocese. Mr Asare Yeboah, Kumasi Diocesan Chairman of the fellowship said as soldiers of Christ, the members have to project and protect the good image of the church and the fellowship. Very Reverend Samuel Peprah Yeboah, Minister in-charge of the Dunwell Methodist Church called for obedience, humility and service on the part of the members. He advised them to take up their “cross” and stand firm in the faith. The following constituted the news executive members who were inducted into office: Mr Samuel Kankam, Chairman, Mr Joseph Awrakwa, Vice-Chairman, Nana Akowiah Denteh, Secretary, Mr James Acquah, Treasurer and Mr Johnson Owusu, Assistant Treasurer.
