State-Church collaboration advocated

Dzodze, May 16, GNA- Mr Linus Koffie, the outgoing Ketu District Chief Executive, on Sunday called for increased collaboration between the Church and the State to tackle the mounting problems facing the country.

He said the crime wave such as drug abuse; the sanitation problem, poverty, unemployment and disease, required such a collaboration to deal with them.

Mr Koffie said this in a speech read on his behalf, at the closing session of the four days celebration of the 24th annual conference of the Southern Presbytery Church Choirs Union of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, at Dzodze in the Ketu District. He said government the growth of the church would facilitate the promotion of morality and selflessness, through the examples of Christ to aid national development.

He commended the Church in complementing government’s efforts in providing social facilities to the people, adding that Government alone cannot bear the high demands for such facilities. Mr Koffie asked the choristers to eliminate social vices in the country through their songs.

Reverend David Amedzro Adzakra, Vice-Presbytery Chairman said in a sermon that Christians should be filled with virtue to reflect the image of the Saviour Jesus Christ for others to emulate.

Rev. Andreas Fiagbe, Presbytery Clerk, told the choristers that their songs could reach the sight of God if their ranks were devoid of hatred, division and ill feelings. Mr James Avedzi, Ketu-North Member of Parliament donated one million cedis to the choir.
