JUST BEFORE we went to bed yesternight, the National Democratic Congress despatched a complaint to us that the Kufuor Administration had moved to retrieve all state vehicles in the custody of ex-President Jerry John Rawlings.
A letter received by the Office of Rawlings from the Office of President Kufuor and signed by his chief of staff “directed that former President Rawlings should return vehicles in his possession to the office of the President immediately,” the NDC press release said.
The release signed by Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, MP for Kumbungu and Minority Spokesman on Legal and Constitutional Affairs, also complained about what the NDC considered unnecessary and rampant invitations of Rawlings by the Bureau of National Investigations.
The release reported that the legal team of the NDC, led by Mumuni, had accordingly met the officials of the BNI for clarification of the “real need for another meeting with former President Rawlings.”
Though the BNI had earlier insisted on having Rawlings with them while they concluded a report on their earlier meeting with him, the investigators later agreed with the NDC team that the presence of Rawlings ” was not required for the conclusion of their report prior to submitting the report to their superiors,” said the release.
Attempts to get government officials to comment on the NDC release proved futile.
