State can’t employ every graduate — Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has said that the public sector cannot give employment to every graduate coming out of school.

“It is not possible, it doesn’t happen anywhere in the world. Everybody comes out of school and wants a job, in foreign affairs, ministry of health, finance, births and deaths…it can’t happen,” he said at the official unveiling of FBN Bank Ghana, formerly International Commercial Bank, in Accra.

He said since government is expanding education, the private sector must expand to bring more people into that sector.

He added that with the Youth Enterprise Support (YES) Programme which has a GH¢10million seed fund, government is trying to create an orientation where all young people come out and are not seeking jobs but can also be entrepreneurs and start up their own industries.
