Abura Dunkwa (C/R), Dec 29, GNA – Mr Ephraim Donkor, an Assistant Director of Education of the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District, has appealed to traditional authorities and parents to step up their watchdog roles to help improve education in the area.
Mr Donkor said this when he briefed the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District Assembly at its third Ordinary Meeting on the poor performance of the district in the 2004 BECE.
The district placed 108th and was 101st last year. He said meetings have been held with the District Education Oversight Committee to find a lasting solution to the problem.
Mr Donkor appealed to stakeholders in education to come out with realistic and practicable suggestions that would help improve teaching and learning in schools in the area.
Mr Andrew Mensah, the District Chief Executive, gave the assurance that the assembly would assist the education directorate to improve education by providing incentives, school buildings and teaching and learning materials.
