Stakeholders adopt measures to reduce Guinea worm by 100%

Tamale, June 21, GNA – The Ghana Guinea Worm Eradication Programme in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service has organised a day’s workshop for stakeholders in the campaign against Guinea Worm on Thursday in Tamale. The workshop, which brought together various stakeholders including District Chief Executives, District Directors of health, teachers, media practitioners, students, NGO’s among others was aimed at adopting measures to eradicate Guinea worm by the end of 2009.

The stakeholders discussed measures to ensure change in behaviour and this include swimming in water bodies by infected persons as well as drinking unfiltered water. They also identified various communication channels, activities and networks such as the use of the community radio, television, newspaper and inter personal communication for the role out of Guinea Worm campaign.
