Kumasi, July 16, GNA – The Principal, staff and students of the Wesley College in Kumasi, have donated a cash of 10.5 million cedis to Miss Margaret Yalley, a final-year student of the college to enable her undergo a surgical operation to remove a tumour on the right side of her neck at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
The money was raised through an appeal made by the college to all Teacher Training colleges, Methodist churches and other institutions to help assist Miss Yalley to get 35 million cedis, which is the cost of the surgical operation.
Mr Anyan Badu-Fordjour, Principal of the college, who presented the money on behalf of the staff, students and other contributors on Friday, said the father of Miss Yalley was dead and the mother, Mrs Juliana Tawiah Kusiwaa, who is also a student at the University College of Education, Winneba, could not afford to raise the money alone. The college, therefore, decided to launch the appeal to raise the funds to support Miss Yalley to remove the tumour to enable her continue her education uninterrupted.
Mr Badu-Fordjour said so far, Agogo Presbyterian, Atebubu, Berekum, Saint Monica’s and Saint Joseph’s Training Colleges as well as staff of the Adanwomase and Sakora-Wonoo Catholic primary schools, had responded to the appeal and made various contributions, which had amounted to the 10.5 million cedis.
He therefore appealed to other institutions, individuals and benevolent organisations to come to the aid of the patient to enable her remove the tumour and continue her education.
Mr Badu-Fordjour said all donations should be made to the principal of Wesley College for onward submission to the patient.
