St. Paul’s Tech. School to benefit from Swiss Trust

Accra, Nov. 25, GNA – St Paul’s Technical School at Kukurantumi in the Eastern Region is to benefit from a three-year support from a Swiss Trust, Arthur Waser Trust, under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in Accra on Friday.

The Ministry of Education and Sports, Ghana Education Service (GES), Management of St. Paul’s Technical School, Society of the Devine Word Ghana or SVD, the trustee of Arthur Waser Trust, signed the MOU. Mr Stephen Godomey, Principal of St. Paul’s Technical School, said the MOU would govern the relationship between the partners for three years and if positive results were produced a new MOU would be negotiated.

He said the school made contact with the Arthur Waser Trust in 2003 during which the Trust provided 33,000 dollars to upgrade the institution.

Mr Godomey said the MOU was the outcome of an evaluation of the school in 2004 by an official of the Trust to assess progress in the school.

He said yearly proposals would be jointly prepared by the partners and approved by the Trust.

This would include strategy, goals, expected results, activities, performance indicators, logical framework, budget and other resources required for reaching the goals.

Mr Kwame Ampofo Twumasi, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports, said because the Government attached importance to technical education there were plans to select 13 technical schools for upgrading to enhance teaching and learning and thanked the Trust for the assistance. Mr Twumasi, Mr Michael Nsowah, Acting Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, signed on behalf of the Government while Mr Godomey, Mr Peter Edze, Vice Principal of the school, the Very Rev Fr Gabriel Kumordji (SVD), Provincial Superior, Ghana Province and Mr Samuel Dagadu, Member of the Ghana Province of SVD initialled for the school.
