The St. Paul’s Methodist Cathedral held a float on Saturday, though the streets of Tema to launch its 20th-anniversary celebration.
Members, clad in the church’s ‘T’ shirts sang and danced to brass band music, while the St John Ambulance Service provided first aid to some members.
Addressing members after the float, the Diocesan Bishop of the Church, Right Rev. Thomas Brown Forson, said the float was to make the world around them know they were marking an important event to “communicate the mind of Christ to the world.”
He said there would be several activities during the eight-month long celebration which would be climaxed during the church’s synod in May 2017.
According to him, the theme for the celebration was “Tema Diocese, celebrating 20 years of God’s faithfulness.”
Rev. Forson said the church had gone through a lot during the years under review and it was appropriate for the church to celebrate the faithfulness of God.
He said the celebration was also to look back with thanksgiving and forge ahead with hope.
“Today we live in a world of unfaithfulness from home to the society, and it is now time for us to forge ahead in hope,” he added.
The Diocesan Bishop called on the church to learn to rely on God because He was dependable and true to his word.
He urged the church to show the world God’s faithfulness and “they will leave whatever they are doing to follow God.”
“I urge the Church to draw closer to God in love, confidence and appreciate all that He has done for us,” he said.
Rev. Forson also called on Ghanaians to look for God’s faithfulness during the upcoming elections adding that God would give Ghana the right leader for the next term.
