St Catherine’s Church marks Family Sunday

The priests and parishioners of Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church at Burma Camp have resolved to mark the 1st Sunday of every month as Family Sunday.

The day was officially launched during a Eucharist celebration on Sunday, April 30 but the first was marked on Sunday, May 7.

Parish Priest Reverend Father Alex Anaman, who is also a Commander at Ghana Navy, said the Family Sunday was to afford parishioners the opportunity to truly deepen and commune as one people of God and also interact and help weak parishioners spiritually, physically and financially.

Preaching on vocation, Fr. Anaman said every vocation has its own difficulty likewise the priesthood and sisterhood, having its challenges and difficulties.

He encouraged young men and women to pray about their vocation life and also understand that marriage, for instance, is a vocation and has its own challenges as priesthood.

“Parents are shepherds of their families likewise priests are shepherds of God’s church,” said Fr. Anaman. He entreated Christians not to compromise their faith for any position and place their trust in God “because true peace is found in Christ Jesus, the chief Good Shepherd”.

The Family Day was marked with breakfast accompanied by interactions after Holy Mass.
